Eric Andersen for Republican Central Committee - 71st District

I am running for re-election for the San Diego County Republican Central Committee in the 71st Assembly District and I need your vote.

I have been a small business owner in La Mesa since 1988.  My wife Debbie and I have been married for twenty eight years and have two sons. We home schooled our sons K-12 (actually, I should tell you Debbie did 99% of it and deserves all the credit).  I am very proud of what she accomplished with our sons.  Both boys were nationally ranked debaters in STOA, a national homeschool speech and debate league.
My faith is the foundation for everything I do.  My ministry experience includes being the Men's Ministry leader at two east county churches, one of which involved oversight of sixteen small group leaders and their coaches along with weekly teaching responsibilities. I have also been a short term missionary sharing the gospel door-to-door to Hindus in India, Muslims in Ethiopia and in the Andes of South America. I am also a former Rock Church Citizen of the Year.
Constitution II
Eight years ago, in the course of teaching our sons about government, I realized that most every problem facing our nation (occupy protests, national debt, high unemployment, mortgage default crisis) had their origin in a departure from our founding principles.  Ideas have consequences.  Its that simple.

The problem?  We are electing "Conservatives" who don't understand the U.S. Constitution.  They are conservative in name only.  Their oath to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution is not being kept. If we wish to be prosperous and free we need only return to the ideas that made us the most prosperous and free nation in 5000 years of human history and we need leaders who have the character to submit to their oath.
Conservative
I believe we should be judging politicians from both parties by their voting records, not their rhetoric. I believe patriotism is loyalty and fidelity to the ideals upon which our nation was founded and not the latest policies coming out of Washington.  I am a Christian 1st. An American 2nd and a Republican 3rd.  I don't believe I should be referring to myself as a Conservative unless I am conserving the ideals set forth by our founders. As your representative on the Central Committee I will be endorsing and recruiting candidates who understand and are committed to rule of law, sound money, free markets, constitutionally limited governmentself-government and private property.  It is these principles that Conservatives must conserve and uphold.
It is  because I am passionate about these principles that I co-founded im2moro, a Im2moro Oceansideyouth organization reaching Americans with real hope for our nation's future.  Youth today are tired of divisive politics. They want principles not politics. We trained and equipped young Americans to unite around the 7 First Principles of Liberty.  Through articulate and creative young voices im2moro was at the forefront of a national youth movement bringing real change to America.  im2moro students were frequent guest speakers at San Diego County tea parties, Federation of Republican Women and Women's VIP events, Oceanside Tax Day Tea Party, San Diego County Eagle Forum Convention and multiple events on the USS Midway for Flag Day.
It is because of my passion and commitment to these principles that I became a founding member of the San Diego Republican Liberty Caucus and am their current Chairman. I believe it takes more than sincerity and a successful business background to be part of the solution. One must have a deep appreciation for our founding ideals and be willing to stand alone for them.  I am that man and have been doing that for the past three and a half years. Our elected officials cannot "preserve, protect and defend" ideals with which they are not fully committed.

If you wish our great ideas to be upheld by the San Diego County Republican Party I would appreciate your vote on June 7th. Thank you.

                                                                        Endorsements

for the great ideas that bring freedom and prosperity.
He has my wholehearted support."

Voting Record: Congressman D. Duncan Hunter (R-50)

Congressman Hunter (R CA-50) is presently voting with the Constitution about 70% of the time.  It's the 30% that hurts.  What is just as concerning is the negative trending.  The congressman had a 95% rating (Freedom Works) in 2009, 82% in 2011, 68% in 2012 and dropped to 65% in 2013 - in a district in which he defeated his Democratic opponent by 40 points.  I am not questioning the Congressman’s intentions.  I believe him to be doing what he thinks is right, but freedom, prosperity and reform respond to our adherence to the great ideas of our Framers not our best intentions.

VOTING RECORD

Feb 2011-Restricted our First Amendment rights with H.R. 347
Mar 2011-Tells Fox News military can attack without a Congressional Declaration of War

Dec 2011-Voted for indefinite detention of American citizens

Jul 2012-Voted 1.6B in funding for the U.N. in violation of our national sovereignty, H.R. 6018

Jan 2013-Voted to kick the debt can down the road, H.R. 325

Mar 2013-Voted to fully fund ObamaCare, H.R.933Article.
Refused to sign te Meadows Letter to Defund ObamaCare through the Continuing Resolution.  Congressman Mark Meadows solicited signatures for a letter to Speaker Boehner, asking that the House Republicans stand firm in their commitment to defund ObamaCare through the Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government. Members who signed the letter affirmed their commitment to resist ObamaCare using a must-pass bill (the CR), rather than continuing to take ineffectual, symbolic votes to that effect.

Apr 2013-Voted to CISPA internet sharing with government, H.R. 624

Jun 2013 - Voted against reforming the Federal Sugar Program.
Amendment 52 to H.R. 1947 would have 1) repealed unnecessary trade restrictions, 2) eliminated higher price support levels
McClintock, Rohrabacher, Bachmann, Chaftez, Gowdy, Salmon voted "Yes"
Hunter and Boehner voted "No"

Jul 2013-Voted against Amendment to end NSA surveillance of phone conversations

Jul 2013 – Voted to strike the words “not to exceed” from the funding of the Office of Intelligence,Security and Emergency Response. Amendment #418 to H.R. 2610.
(McClintock, Issa and Rohrbacher voted to keep those words in)

Jul 2013 – While at a fundraiser at his parent’s Alpine home tells those gathered that the Heritage Foundation is no longer welcome at is Washington office (Heritage was challenging his support of the unconstitutional farm bill)

Dec 2013 – Voted to overturn the Budget Control Act of 2011 which reduced sequester cuts and spending caps, increased user fees and taxes, and increased spending.

Mar 2014 - Voted 1B Ukrainian loan guarantee, "a promise by one party (American taxpayer) to assume the debt obligation (1B) of a borrower (Ukrainian business owner) if that borrower defaults. H.R. 4152.

Jan 2014 - Voted  for H.R. 3370 - Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act
This bill would delay a major reform to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) that would have returned some semblance of market rates to flood insurance premiums. Currently, NFIP is over $25 billion in debt because homeowners in frequently flooded areas do not have to pay an amount that is equal to the risk they incur, meaning that the government takes a loss when the inevitable floods occur.
Jul 2014 – Voted against McClintock’s H. Amend #992 to reduce government spending for renewable energy by 3B.  (McClintock & Rohrabacher and Amash voted “Yes”)

Jul 2014 – Joined Pelosi and Scott Peters in voting against House Amendment #1032 (Stockman) to H.R.  4923 and opposed Amash, McClintock, Rohrabacher's attempt to prohibit the government from using our taxes for Department of Energy loans.

Jul 2014 - Should the President be able to usurp congress with executive orders?
H.R. 4809
Congressman Hunter, Scott Peters and Nancy Pelosi say “Yes”.
Congressman McClintock, Amash and Rohrabacher say “No”.
No one questions the need for the Federal Government to obtain the necessary
resource to fulfill its constitutional role of providing for the common defense.  However, the Federal Government must fulfill this duty in a manner that does not conflict in any way with  the Constitution or endanger republican government.  The Defense Production Reauthorization Act (DPA), which gives almost unchecked power to the executive to interfere in the economy in the name of `national security,’ fails both of these standards.

Sep 2014 - Voted to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank (H.J. Res. 124)
Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy commented "The bank should be allowed to expire in September because the private sector can and should do it."  Additionally, the bill contained just a two month extension of the Internet Tax Freedom Act which prevents states from imposing taxes on internet access. This places the expiration of ITFA right in the middle of a lame duck session setting up a potential fight over the so called "Market Place Fairness Act" or Internet Sales Tax.

October 2014 Voted 'Biggest Party Animal' (Washingtonian)
White House staffers in their 15th biennial survey "The Best & Worst of Congress"
Staffers recognize Congressman Hunter as a big partier.

Dec 2014 - Intelligence Authorization Act for FY 2015 (H.R. 4681)
Should the Executive Branch be granted unlimited access to our non-public telephone and electronic communications?
Amash, McClintock, Rohrabacher voted "No"

Hunter voted "Yes"

Dec 2014 - 1.1 Trillion Cromnibus Spending Bill to fund Obamacare (H.R. 83)
1,600 page bill (longer than Tolstoy's War and Peace) was not read and should have been broken down into twelve separate appropriation bills.
Amash, McClintock, Rohrabacher voted "No"
In the Senate: Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee voted "No"
Hunter, Scott Peters and Susan Davis      "Yea"
Comment from David Stockman (Reagan Budget Director)

March 2014 - Trauma Care for All Americans
With a Republican majority in the House why aren't we seeing limited government and more
"check & balance"?  H.R. 647 authorized "$100,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2016 through 2020." Limited Government votes:  McClintock and Amash
Big Government votes:          Hunter, Pelosi and Peters

March 2015 - Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015
H.R. 2 Extended health care for children at a cost of half-a-trillion dollars over the next twenty years according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. In most previous years the cost of the patch has been paid with other cuts.  This time only one third was offset.
Amash, Issa and McClintock voted "No"
Hunter, Pelosi, Davis, Peters and Vargas voted "Yea"

March 2015 USA Freedom Act of 2015 (H.R. 2408)
The U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that the bulk telephone metadata program run by the NSA is not authorized by the Patriot Act and is thus unlawful.  That "win" was short-lived.  H.R. 2408 passed the House expanding the statutory basis for the large scale collection of most data. H.R. 2408 does this by authorizing the government to order the production of records based upon "specific selection term" (i.e. like a search term used in a search engine). Unfortunately, "specific selection term" is defined so broadly under the bill as to have little effect on narrowing the scope of items the government may obtain. Find the Patriot defending our freedom ...
Amash, Massie, McClintock, Rohrabacher:  Nay
Hunter:   Yea

June 2015 The Dot Com Act (H.R. 805)
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration that oversees the domain name system recommended that control should be privatized.
Find the Patriot defending limited constitutional government ...
Amash, Massie, McClintock and Rohrabacher: Nay
Pelosi, Peters and Hunter: Yea

October 2015 Reauthorize Export-Import Bank (H.R. 597)
There is no better example of corporate welfare than the Export-Import Bank. The deal is simple taxpayer provide the cash and exporter collect the profit. It is neither moral, nor economical or constitutional to take 425M from American workers and redistribute to Kazakhstan companies to buy from GE.
Find the Patriot defending free markets ...
Amash, Massie, McClintock and Rohrabacher: Nay
Pelosi, Peters and Hunter: Yea

November 2015 10th Amendment Violation
SAFE Trucking Act - Ribble Amendment (H.R. 22 Roll Call 588)
James Madison wrote in Federalist #45 "the powers delegated by the proposed Constitution are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite." The federal government currently controls the U.S. truck weight limits forcing trucks to leave farms and plants before they reach capacity. This authority is not enumerated in the U.S. Constitution. The Ribble Amendment would have corrected this violation.
Find the Patriot defending limited constitutional government...

Amash, Massie, McClintock and Rohrabacher: Yea
Pelosi, Peters and Hunter: No

April 2016 Global Food Security (H.R. 1567)
This bill would authorize sending taxpayer dollars to developing countries to reduce global hunger and poverty and improve nutrition.  This is not an enumerated power in the U.S. Constitution.
Find the Patriot defending limited government ...
Amash, Massie, McClintock: Nay
Pelosi, Peters and Hunter: Yea

June 2016 PROMESA (H.R. 5278)
Like Detroit, Puerto Rico is in distress because of Washington and Puerto Rican regulation violating free market principles. Puerto Rico is now defaulting. Is it the constitutional role of the federal government to step in to oversee their budget and debt repayment?
Additional Information
Hunter, Peters and Pelosi: 'Aye'

Amash, Issa, Massie, McClintock and Rohrabacher: 'No'

June 2016 Fourth Amendment / Unlawful Search and Seizure (H.R. 5602)
Unlawful expansion of the Patriot Act. House leaders rushed this under suspension of the rules. Consequently no debate or amendments could be considered. Is our right against unreasonable search and seizure a right granted by our Creator or a privilege granted by the king.  Congressman Hunter voted with Co-Sponsor Maxine Waters (D-CA), Nancy Pelosi and Scott Peters to expand the governments power. Congressmen Amash, Massie, McClintock and Rohrabacher disagreed saying it is an inalienable right granted by our Creator.

Seven Things You Should Know about Abel Maldonado

Abel Maldonado desires to be California's Governor in 2014.  There are a few things you should know. The future of our state is dependent upon the character and principles of those we elect. No matter how well intentioned or how well plans for reform are carried out, they will fail if we ignore natural rights and limited government.

“. . . he’s at the left most end of the Republican party distribution in California.
Actually, he’s in the most liberal 3rd percentile in the party.
That is, 97% of all Republicans who have served between 1993 and 2006
in either the Assembly or the Senate are more conservative than him.”

1.  Violated his Taxpayer Protection Pledge
"Maldonado refused to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge for his CA-24 race, he betrayed  voters by violating his written commitment to them to "oppose any and all tax hikes" as a state legislator."  (Americans for Tax Reform, 6/1/12)

2. Voted for Largest State Tax Increase in U.S. History
In the middle of the largest recession in modern history, Maldonado cast the tie breaking budget vote for a 13 billion tax hike. (Schwarzenegger subsequently appointed Maldonado to fill Garamendi's vacant Lt. Governor seat)

(California's Senate leader, Darrell Steinberg (left), congratulates GOP Sen. Abel Maldonado
for casting the vote that ended a three-month budget impasse (Photo credit: Rich Pedroncelli/AP)

3.  2nd Amendment
Maldonado was one of four Republicans to vote for the semi-automatic weapons ban (SB23)

"These are weapons of war; they shouldn't be on the streets,"
     - Assemblyman Abel Maldonado (Los Angeles Times, 7/13/99)

4. Mandatory Child Vaccines
Voted to strip parents of their right to exempt their child from vaccinations.
     (AB 16), (Maldonado vote)

5. Proposition 14 - 'Top 2 Primary' System
Maldonado authored Proposition14 drawing the ire of the California Republican Party, which unsuccessfully fought Prop 14 during the 2010 election.   Prop 14 virtually excludes a third party nominee while allowing Democrats to participate in the selection of Republican nominees - thus moving the GOP in a moderate direction. A concentration of power among the two major parties.

"Proposition 14 is the brainchild of Republican Abel Maldonado, a former state senator who recently was confirmed as the state's new lieutenant governor." (ABC News, 6/4/10)

6. Supported the DREAM Act
Maldonado supported using taxpayer money to fund the education of non-citizens.
     (Capitol Alert, 12/2/10)

7. Supported Global Warming Education in Schools
Abel Maldonado voted "Yes". (SB 908, 1/30/08)

"Abel Maldonado is a tax hiking Republican
and voters should pay close attention to his record ...
California's number on employer is the government
and the state budget has more than doubled in the last decade."

Harmeet Dhillon, Candidate for Vice Chair CA GOP

February 11, 2013

I spoke with Harmeet last night and this morning.

The ACLU comments in the CRA letter are a misrepresentation of who she is.  She is a Sikh.  She believes all men should be treated equal.  She joined the ACLU from 2003-2005 to defend Sikhs whose unalienable rights were being violated as a result of 9/11.  History was repeating our nation’s mistake with the Japanese during WWII.  Any one of us claiming to be a Patriot should have done so as well.

She does not agree with all that the ACLU does and has not been part of them for nearly ten years.

She was familiar with the ACLU because they defended her at Dartmouth when she was a student and Editor of their paper. She was not in the wrong for challenging a teacher.  Patriots do that.  We call it Free Speech.  Don’t forget our 2nd President, John Adams, defended the British in the Boston Massacre, because he believed Law is King (Lex Rex).
Where is the Patriot who would not have voted for John Adams because he defended the British and upheld rule of law?

The CRA statement that she supported Democrat Kamala Harris is a falsehood.  Her business partner did, Peter Smith.

I agree with Harmeet on a number of areas and disagree on two.

Agreements first.

First let me state that I wholeheartedly stand with the Republican Party on their desire to reach out to groups that have not voted with us in the past and after some due diligence on Ms. Dhillon find much common ground.

I agree with her desire to protect the liberties embodied in our founding documents for minorities and those unable to defend themselves.

Agree with her desire to focus more on fiscal issues and less on social (I believe social issues are best addressed by families and churches, institutions government is destroying).

Agree with her that the war on Libya was unconstitutional. (No congressional declaration of war . . . as usual)

Agree with her statement that we cannot run our state on income tax from the wealthy.

Agree with her lack of sympathy for the college students protesting against hikes in tuition at California State and UC campuses.

Agree with her participation in SLAPP, an organization combatting government harassment of citizens desiring to use free speech to challenge tyranny.

Agree that government does not have a right to be in our bedrooms and I agree with her stand against the Affordable Health Care Act.  Bravo.

Agree with her support of 2nd Amendment and all the Bill of Rights. (most legislators do not understand them)

These are all Constitutional positions I can stand next to her on.

I DISAGREE with Harmeet’s position on Abortion and Same Sex Marriage

Here I  think she becomes inconsistent and separates the healthy principles of her faith  from her influence on the ethics of government.  Like myself,  she holds that the State should not regulate, nor does it have jurisdiction, in our personal lives.   But unlike the ethics of our Framers,  she doesn’t protect the right to life of one of our greatest minorities,  the child, a constituency with very little voice in San Francisco.

Abortion
Although she is personally against abortion and same sex marriage she does not see them as transcendent principles to be upheld by a just legal system.   I am concerned when we disconnect unalienable rights and the transcendent values from the ethics of government.    Like the Framers,  and Reagan, I believe the state should not protect us from ourselves but these two issues encroach on the lives of others and society as a whole.    LIFE is an UNALIENABLE RIGHT and not a social issue.

Marriage
While I do not see marriage as a federal issue in the Constitution, the citizens of California (10th Amendment) have a compelling reason to see that the institution of marriage be defined as one between a male and female for the purpose of procreation and raising self-governing and healthy members of society.  The health and future of our state depends upon such.

I disagree with her on the marriage issue because  the health of  this institution is the future of our nation.  Marriage is historically/biblically defined by the ‘laws of Nature and Nature’s God’.   As the definition of marriage goes so goes that which is closely linked with it – the family.  Our legislators and the state have a compelling interest that the definition of marriage remain has it biblically, historically and philosophically has been throughout history(see Henri de Bracton, Blackstone and Locke)

Same sex marriage is not natural  and violates the laws of nature and Nature’s God.

The purpose of marriage is procreation and a healthy environment to raise self-governing and productive children.

If Harmeet would have left same sex marriages to civil contracts I would have been okay.  But she has gone past that point wanting to use the State and the coercive power of law to place an immoral behavior on par with that which is moral and traditional and also the extension of benefits for such.   I do not mind homosexuals doing what they wish in their own lives.  I have sin problems too, but I do not wish to live in a society that places my immoral behaviors on par with traditional and moral ones.  My opinion.

Of course, in order to make an informed decision, we must not only have a true understanding of Harmeet but of her opponent.  Unfortunately, her opponent was either not invited or refused an invitation to a meeting of our Central Committee.

I have tremendous respect for Harmeet's understanding of the Bill of Rights in an era when few candidates or legislators do.  I also understand how tough it must be to be a Republican leader in the San Francisco community.

Each of us must come to our own conclusions about candidates but let us do so from facts not hearsay. Although Harmeet and I agree personally on abortion and marriage, we disagree on the proper role of government here. In an era when it is hard to find candidates and legislators that truly understand our Bill of Rights I have great respect for Harmeet.
